JOURNEY TO NAGALAND

AN EPIC TRIP TO ONE OF SOUTHEAST ASIA'S MOST REMOTE AREAS

SEPTEMBER 2019 - A few months ago, we were invited as a family to join an unforgettable journey up the Chindwin River to visit the Naga people of exotic northwestern Myanmar with Heritage Line. This was not just any journey, though, but an amazingly luxurious one in a decadently appointed vessel styled after the British colonial steamers that churned these waters nearly two centuries ago -faithfully recreated and even improved down to the very finest of details.

This trip was also unique in that, for the first time in memory, we were invited not to behind a camera -but in front of it! So, while I was still able to grab a good many photos, this was technically not a photo trip but a "looking pretty" trip.

Nevertheless, visiting some of the most remote areas of what may very well be Asia's most photogenic country did present a good many photo opportunities that simply could not be ignored.

While Myanmar is home to dazzling landscapes, stunning temples and even exotic wildlife, those who have been there before will tell you that it's the people that make this place truly special.

Everywhere you go, whether it's in the remote reaches of its northern frontier or in the back-alleys of Mandalay, you will find charming, friendly people and a gentle, inviting culture that makes you feel at home despite it feeling as though you're in a different universe or at least a different era. Being able to capture the essence of this is a joy and a privilege that I hope  you too can experience someday.

Until then, enjoy perusing through some photos from this incredible trip and relive some of the moments of our journey.
